I have owned this mixer for two weeks and have used it everyday. Baking and cooking has never been so easy and fun. I have made everything from cakes to biscuits to heavy double batches of yeast bread and I have yet to come across anything that will slow this machine down. It will plow through a 12 cup bread dough recipe like it was a small single batch. I purchased the meat grinder, slicer-shredder, and strainer attachment combo with it and it operates these accessories with no problems. I have made several recipes of sausages with the grinder attachment and this machine will grind up meat in nothing flat. I bought this to replace a Sunbeam Mixmaster that I bought on Amazon a month or so before I got this one. The Sunbeam was a 350 watt model and it would not hold a candle to this one even on thin cake batter. I have whipped small batches of whipping cream with this Kitchenaid using the wire whip and no amount is too small. Cosmetically, this machine did not have a scratch or mark on... Read more

My wife had expressed an interest in the KitcenAid brand and so I bought this as an additional joke gift for Valentines Day (picked the color red for added emphasis).... She loved it! Said it was a great gift and wasn't at all miffed about the Valentines tie-in -:) She's baked more breads and cookies than ever before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value and powerful, March 9, 2007

This review is from: Hamilton Beach Eclectrics 63221 All-Metal Stand Mixer, Sugar (Kitchen)
I purchased this unit just over a month ago. It arrived in less than a week. I've had no problems with it yet. It is truly all metal except for the splash guard/ingredient chute. To address some other reviews that had me concerned. The head doesn't slap around. That is a warranty issue for her. It does walk with big stiff dough recipes such as a two loaf all wheat. Simple physics, considering size and weight, tells you at medium to high speeds it will. Kinda lets you know it is a powerful electronic speed controlled mixer. I can easily steady the base for the few seconds to finish mixing. All other mixing jobs are done with ease. I, personally, like the tilt head. All stand mixers will require side scraping with some recipes, even the expensive KitchenAids. Although I made a five bar cheesecake yesterday and as I was watching the eggs, dropped in at the side one at a time, they were all fully captured and mixed in. I usually scrape once at the beginning and it spins into a dough ball... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality construction, March 9, 2005
This is a great mixer with only one fault. You have to stop on occasion to scrape the bowl to make sure everything is mixed. It is much better than the Sunbeam, better than the comparably priced Kitchenaid, but not as good as the top of the line Kitchenaid, but for the price, who cares. I make almost everything from scratch and this mixer can handle the stiffest batters and doughs. The attachments are great except the shield can be awkward. It doesn't mention, but I think the bowl is 4 quarts. I have made double large batches of cookies with it without any trouble. I love that the mixer tilts up out of the way, and the beaters will still drip into the bowl - no mess. I plan on keeping this until my daughter needs a mixer someday, then buying myself a 'perfect' mixer. This mixer will last, just like a Kitchenaid.

Every since Whirlpool took over Kitchen Aid the quality has gone way down with regard to Kitchen Aid mixers. I bought my first Kitchen Aid mixer a couple weeks ago, came home, turned it on and sparks flew out of it, and a few seconds later, a fuse blew. I took the mixer back to the store and got another mixer only this time the second speed didn't work. I then took the second mixer back but this time asked for a refund.
I finally found the Hamilton Beach mixer on line, and I couldn't believe the price for an orbiting, metal, stand mixer with a three year no questions asked warranty (Kitchen Aid only offers a one year warranty), so I bought it. The mixer arrived the other day, and I have been baking like a maniac every since. My first test was cherry, pecan scones, and the mixer didn't hesitate once while pushing through the thick, heavy dough. My second test - chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. This machine didn't bat an eye (eyes not included) forging through a double batch... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but no "ON" button, just "pulse", November 23, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid KHB100ER Hand Blender, Empire Red (Kitchen)
I love handblenders. I have this one and its attachments, and I use it pretty regularly. I have two complaints: 1) the powercord is thick, cumbersome, and hard to keep out of one's way. I had a cordless unit from a different manufacturer before, and I must say--the extra power here is nice, but I'm not 100% convinced the hassle of the cord is really worth that extra umph very often. 2) and here's the kicker--there's no actual "on" switch. You've got to hold it on the whole time. I really wanted to give one to my mom for Xmas, but she simply doesn't have the hand-strength any longer to make use of this unit. It takes me two hands to keep it held "on," and my hands cramp up when I've got something that I need to blend for a sustained amount of time. That said, this is a lovely unit (I adore the red color), and I get lots of use out of it. I just would have liked a chance to think about those two issues before I bought it (about a year ago), and certainly before I gave it for a... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Unsanitary - eventually may cause food poisoning, January 22, 2010

This review is from: KitchenAid KHB100ER Hand Blender, Empire Red (Kitchen)
I bought this to replace a Braun I had for 15 + years. This was to replace the cheap Braun on which the motor finally gave out after thousands of uses. I have the most expensive Braun and it is the best ever made, however Braun has stopped making hand blenders all together (I wrote to Braun and that is what they told me). I have always thought kitchen aid to be a great product and in the past they were, until they sold out to Westinghouse. The blender works well, although the slowest speed is higher than medium speed on my Braun.

The problem is the seal on the bottom of the mixing shaft under the blade. There is a rubber gasket or sealer that does not seal, but traps blended food under it. After a through washing and allowing it to stand and dry the food particles leak out and dry. I used mine daily, week days at work, to make a whole food/protein shake. Each day I washed it thoroughly and dried it. The next day I would take it to make my shake and note that... Read more

This among other KitchenAid products were a wedding gift. I absolutely LOVE this blender. It's been great for making smoothies in the morning for breakfast and also as an ice grinder. It has 9 speeds which allow for any consistancy. I highly recommend this product.
