5.0 out of 5 stars The best cookbook I have!!!, August 12, 2011

I bought a KitchenAid mixer recently so when I saw this cookbook I thought it would give me more ideas for the mixer. BUT I never dreamed it would cover all types of recipes and they sound so delicious. When I received it and opened it up I could hardly put it down. I'm surprised there are more recipes than not that use the mixer. The book includes beautiful color pictures of the dishes, there are lots of information and useful tips. I have many cookbooks and the basics. I am so impressed that I would recommend this to anyone from a novice to an experienced chef. And that it's recipes use common ingredients (so you don't have to buy ingredients that are rare and hardly used), but the combinations are not the same old normal recipes, they sound and the ones I've done are very delicious! If I had to get rid of all my cookbooks except for one, this would be the one I would keep... Read more

A BIG Tank-you to Amazon Books for sending ON TIME as Promised a fabulous book. I am a huge fan of the KitchenAid and have several of their appliances. This book/binder of over 400 recipes is just wonderful. I would recommend this to any KitchenAid/Cooking lover. The book arrived in great condition, although I would like to suggest a little bubble wrap around the book next time, this would protect the corners even more. I would certainly recommend Amazon.com and look forward to purchasing from them again in the future.

Amazon.com Review

KitchenAid's stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 250 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough; the 4-1/2-quart bowl can hold up to 8 cups of flour, which translates into as many as 192 sweet treats.

This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solid in construction and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist; untwisting them is a bit trickier because the attachment stems are short and can be hard to grasp, especially if they get the least bit greasy. The bowl itself locks tight to the base.

Standing 14 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off.

To complete the package, KitchenAid includes a spiral-bound guide with instructions, mixing tips, and 67 recipes, from crispy waffles to a caramel walnut banana torte. --Betsy Danheim

I finally decided to take the plunge and buy this item when the price dropped to $115 and shipped for free. "You cannot beat that deal, on this mixer!"

The mixer itself is HEAVY and not exactly something that you can easily take on and off the kitchen counter and store in any cabinet. Check out the dimensions and make sure you have room for it... or make room; like I've had to do.

When using the mixer you really don't need to even scrape the sides of the mixing bowl. Good thing... there's not much room to do it! The bowl and the mixing device (whisk, dough hook, and beater are all included) both lock easily into place and the instruction book is very straight forward and has several recipies for you to try.

Using this mixer makes me realize what I've been missing. It's got power, and with all of the available attachments it's versatile too. The design is superior and the price is right.

Bottom line: BUY THIS ONE!!!

It's built like a tank, could last forever and cost $119 (well it did when I wrote this in 2005). Other than a shovel or a hammer, I can't think of anything else this inexpensive I could pass on to my children. Sure, you could pay more to get this with a larger bowl or a designer color, but why bother?
Once you start using this mixer, you will wonder how you did without it. It makes an excellent gift for anyone who cooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very versatile appliance, June 15, 2005
This review is from: KitchenAid K45WSSWH Classic Series 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer with Spatula, White (Kitchen)
This is, without a doubt, one of the best things I have ever purchased in my whole life. The price is unbeatable. With the Amazon promotion code, was $114 and free shipping. You can't beat that. Now I see they are offering it for just 99 dollars!!! It's a no brainer! Was shipped and received on time, very well protected.
You need to have a space to put the mixer, since it's really heavy and not too easy to take on and off constantly. The instructions book is very clear. Once I had the mixer with me, I used it right away. The results have been more than satisfactory. The speeds work beautifully with any kind of mix, the three attachments are the most important to have, from my point of view. Maybe other useful attachment would be the pouring shield. Usually we use it to mix batches of cookies, cakes and pies. What's wonderful is the mixing bowl has a coating that allows al mixes to slip without scraping the bowl. Certainly the bowl could use a handle, but it's not really... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars New dough hook is great!, May 31, 2005
I make a lot of bread using my KitchenAid mixer, and for years I have tolerated my 4.5 quart Ultra Power KitchenAid mixer. Anytime a recipe called for 6 cups of flour, I knew I would have to finish the recipe by hand. The 4.5 quart bowl just couldn't handle that much dough. I just purchased the Pro 600 with the spiral dough hook, and all I can say is WOW! The new spiral hook works totally different than the older C-hook. No longer does the dough "slap" against the side of the bowl. Instead the sprial dough hook brings the dough to the middle of the bowl for mixing and kneading. You can see how much more effective this tool is. I have already ran 5 different bread recipes through this mixer, and I haven't had to finish any of the by hand yet. Just enough to shape the dough before proofing. The 6 quart bowl is a must have for bread makers! Now I just have to figure out how to give away all this bread!

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, August 4, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter (Kitchen)
I have owned this machine for a little over a year now. Well, actually I have gone through five of these machines in the last 16 months, as each one has broken while kneading wheat dough. I use approximately 6-7 cups of wheat flour per each batch of bread. This should not be too much for this powerful machine, especially since it is advertised to handle wheat dough. I have since also had to purchase a Bosch Universal for my bread making. I have also heard excellent reports about the Electolux mixer for kneading wheat bread.

My recipe calls for a 6 minute kneading time, but each Kitchenaid got too hot and shut off after only a couple of minutes of kneading.(This time fluctuated with each machine.) I would have to wait for it too cool down. I even tried blowing a fan on one of them while it kneaded to keep it cool. It was useless.

The first time I called Kitchenaid they told me I should only knead my bread for 2 minutes at a time. This bothered me... Read more

This review is from: KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter (Kitchen)
I still have my Kitchenaid Classic Stand Mixer for 17 years and it is still kicking, but I have wanted this newer, bigger Kitchenaid for sometime. The price was the only thing keeping me from buying. My husband convinced me that in spite of the price tag, it's a well-made machine and if it lasts as long as my Classic, it would be well worth the plunge. I checked prices all over and Amazon was the best price (especially since I got mine w/o shipping costs!). I also lucked out because I opened an Amazon account, and Kitchenaid offered a mail-in rebate!! It was a great Christmas gift to me! I purchased dark pewter which wasn't what I thought it was when I got it. I called customer service at Amazon and they couldn't have been nicer. They said that I could switch it for the correct color, no problem, since the color appeared different on the website. I decided I didn't want to wait any longer and kept the dark pewter--which still looks good with my black appliances (licorce was... Read more
